The Indiana Jones Adventure attraction at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, closed indefinitely on September 8 for refurbishment, leaving fans uncertain about its return. The theme park has not provided a timeline for the ride's reopening, with its official website stating only to "check back here for updates."
This indefinite closure comes as Disneyland's operational calendar, which lists the ride as "unavailable," extends through at least October 22. Typically, when rides undergo scheduled maintenance, Disney provides an expected reopening date. The lack of a specific timeline has led to speculation among Disney fans and enthusiasts, as reported by Inside the Magic. The blog suggests that the extended closure may indicate a flexible scope of work or that the extent of necessary repairs is not yet fully known.
The Indiana Jones Adventure, which first opened in 1995, is described as a "fast-paced thrill ride that realistically simulates quick driving over rough terrain." The attraction takes guests into the "crumbling Temple of the Forbidden Eye," navigating dangers such as precarious precipices, mummies, giant insects, and a rolling boulder, all in an attempt to follow in the footsteps of the titular adventurer. The ride features a complex vehicle system and an elaborate show building with various practical effects, including rockwork, animatronics, projection, lighting, and fire effects, all of which require ongoing maintenance.
The ride has experienced several closures in recent years. It underwent a refurbishment in March 2025 that lasted over a month, and it also shut down for two days in December 2025 for maintenance.
This closure follows recent criticism of Disneyland regarding significant price increases for food and beverages. Reports indicate that items such as churros, popcorn, ice cream, coffee, and bottled water have seen price hikes. For instance, churros increased from $5.75 to $6.25, a nearly 9% rise, while popcorn went from $6.50 to $7.00, a 7.7% increase. Coffee and Dasani water bottles both saw a 14.6% increase, from $4.79 to $5.49, and bottled soda rose from $5.19 to $5.49. These price adjustments have reportedly caused frustration among park visitors, who have voiced their opinions on social media platforms.
