Bella Varelis Admits to Painkiller Reliance After Ankle Break

Bella Varelis, a former contestant on The Bachelor, has revealed she has become reliant on painkillers and feels overwhelmed and 'helpless' following a broken ankle.

Varelis, 31, shared her struggles in a recent Substack post, detailing how the injury has significantly impacted her independence. "Overnight, I lost so much of my independence. I can't walk. I can't shower alone. I can't get around without help," she wrote.

She described the pain as 'unbearable' and stated that she is using painkillers and anti-anxiety beta blockers to cope. "I've become reliant on painkillers and on the people around me," Varelis admitted. "Some days I feel frustrated. Some days I feel helpless, overwhelmed, and constantly anxious."

While she often tells people she is 'okay,' Varelis confessed that on a deeper level, she is 'really not.' She identified her boyfriend, actor Sam Corlett, as her primary support system, with her family also offering comfort.

The accident occurred in mid-September, leading to Varelis being hospitalized. At the time, she posted a social media update assuring followers that her surgery had gone well and that she would be focusing on rest and recovery.

This is not the first time Varelis has undergone medical procedures. In 2022, she had a nose job and an eyelid lift, having previously admitted to using fillers under her eyes and in her lower lip. She documented these procedures, which cost over $12,000, and revealed she had initially concealed them from her followers.
