Clogs are making a comeback this fall, driven in part by model Bella Hadid's recent embrace of the footwear. Hadid was recently seen in Los Angeles wearing Chloé's Jeannette Embellished Leather Clogs during the launch event for her brand, Orebella.
According to celebrity stylist Samantha Brown, Chloé was an early proponent of platform clogs, with the style appearing on runways in the 1970s. The distinctive, substantial silhouette eventually gained wider popularity in mainstream fashion.
"A great way to build interest and tension in an outfit is to choose the ‘wrong’ shoe, something off beat that doesn’t quite work," Brown explained. "The very casual nature of Birkenstock clogs and their lookalike neighbors is that they’re essentially a house slipper, something super easy, extremely casual and quick to slip on. Oftentimes, they’re the ‘wrong’ choice, which can feel right."
Brown suggests pairing clogs with other trending relaxed silhouettes, noting that the added weight in the front of the shoe can help balance looser clothing styles.
While Chloé's clogs are a premium option, similar styles are available for less. The OMLISHZTY Women’s Leather Studded Clogs, found on Amazon, offer a comparable look for under $50 and are currently available at a discount. These clogs feature an edgy faux leather material, gold studs, a buckle strap, and a wooden sole. They are available in black and brown, versatile colors for fall wardrobes.
Amazon shoppers have described the OMLISHZTY clogs as "super cute" and "comfortable." One reviewer noted, "I wanted clogs like we wore in the 80s, and these are a nice modern take. They add some height, are lighter weight than they look and more importantly, are quite comfortable. Happy with my purchase."
These affordable studded clogs can be styled for various occasions, from casual outings with jeans and a tank top to more formal settings with a blazer and trousers.
