Beau Lamarre-Condon Trial: CCTV Footage and Witness Testimony Detail Movements Before Alleged Murders
Court hears of police officer's actions in the days leading up to the alleged killings of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, including retrieving his firearm and renting a vehicle.
CCTV footage and witness testimony are providing a detailed timeline of former NSW Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon's activities in the days before the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. Detective Sasha Pinazza, who is leading the investigation, presented evidence in court on Thursday, following her initial testimony on Monday.
The court was shown footage from Lamarre-Condon's seized phone and iCloud account, including a six-minute clip of Jesse Baird at the Royal Hotel in Paddington in May 2023. This footage was found on Lamarre-Condon's devices after his arrest in February 2024.
Further CCTV evidence documented Lamarre-Condon's movements between February 16 and February 19, 2024. The footage showed him starting and ending police shifts, locking his service firearm at Balmain Police Station, shopping for a surfboard cover with a friend, and withdrawing cash. On February 18, the day before the alleged murders, Lamarre-Condon was seen retrieving his gun from Balmain Police Station before heading to a protest in the Domain.
That evening, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Lamarre-Condon was recorded arriving at a Hertz car rental facility in Mascot. He rented a Mazda CX5 using his NSW Police discount. Coleen Lamarre, Beau Lamarre-Condon's mother, was seen meeting him at the dealership. Although Lamarre-Condon used his police membership for a discount, he rented the vehicle in his mother's name. CCTV showed Lamarre-Condon leaving the dealership in the Mazda while his mother drove his Tesla.
During the proceedings, a childhood friend, identified by the pseudonym Alex Carrol, testified that Lamarre-Condon had inquired about obtaining a firearm. In November 2023, during a FaceTime call with her sister present, Lamarre-Condon allegedly asked in a hushed tone, using hand gestures, if her ex-partner could procure a gun for him.
Testimony also revealed Lamarre-Condon's communication after the alleged murders. Maya Campbell, whom Lamarre-Condon met in Bali on New Year's Eve, told the court that he cancelled their dinner plans on February 19, 2024—the day Baird and Davies were allegedly killed. Lamarre-Condon cited a sprained ankle from a run in the rain as the reason for cancellation, texting Campbell: 'Hey babe, I have to cancel, but I just rolled my ankle running in the rain. Can we reschedule? I'm so sorry, I'm not a flake, I just can't really walk right now.' Campbell responded sympathetically, offering to reschedule once he recovered.
