Eight people sustained minor injuries after a woman discharged bear spray during an argument over luggage at a Lower Manhattan hotel on Monday morning. The incident occurred at the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Downtown hotel.
The suspect, who knew the other woman involved in the dispute, allegedly unleashed the spray inside a hotel room around 8 a.m. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over travel gear.
Authorities stated that the suspect and the 28-year-old victim had attended a Pride event together the previous night. The spray affected several individuals within the hotel, leading to its evacuation by the Fire Department due to noxious fumes.
First responders arrived at the scene, and footage from the Citizen app showed guests gathered outside with their belongings. The individuals who received medical attention included the 28-year-old victim, two other women aged 53 and 41, and a man in his 78th year, along with men aged 62 and 35. Two members of the FDNY were also evaluated.
The woman identified by sources only as "Seven" fled the scene and had not been apprehended hours later, according to police.
