Adventurer Bear Grylls, known for his survival expertise, recently utilized his survival skills for a more domestic task: collecting groceries. Grylls, 52, was seen on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, using a custom-built amphibious vehicle to retrieve his weekly shopping from a Waitrose home delivery van on a beach near Abersoch Harbour. The vehicle, capable of traveling on both land and water, parked on the sand as Grylls disembarked to meet the delivery driver.

Grylls, a former SAS trooper and current Chief Scout, was dressed in a black T-shirt, blue shorts, and a lifejacket for the unusual grocery pickup. The delivery driver was reportedly amused by the scene and took a photograph of Grylls before the adventurer returned to his private island, Saint Tudwal's Island West, with his shopping.

Grylls and his wife Shara purchased the island and a houseboat on the River Thames in 2001. He previously described the island as initially being in a derelict state, lacking power, water, and a roof, and inhabited by rats. The property did include a 200-year-old lighthouse and two lightkeeper's cottages.

Describing the island, he said it was 'derelict with no power, no water, no roof and rats.' However, it did come with a 200-year-old lighthouse and two lightkeeper's cottages.

He recounted the challenges of ferrying supplies from the mainland before the construction of a slipway on the island, a process that took approximately ten years to gain permission for. Previously, boats were kept on a mooring, requiring rowing ashore and a mile-long walk up the beach with supplies. Grylls noted the difficulties posed by wild seas, which often led to sleepless nights worrying about the boat's safety.

Despite the adventurous purchase, Bear previously said ferrying supplies over from the mainland had been hard work.

Grylls' career has been marked by numerous survival challenges, including his time in the SAS and expeditions featured in shows like 'Born Survivor' and 'Man Vs Wild.' He famously survived a parachuting accident in 1996 that broke three vertebrae, later becoming one of the youngest climbers to summit Mount Everest. He has previously apologized for instances where elements of his shows were staged, admitting to staying in hotels on occasion instead of in the wilderness.
