BBC News presenter Anna Collinson has announced she is pregnant, sharing her journey of four years of fertility struggles, which included two rounds of IVF and two miscarriages. The investigative journalist revealed her pregnancy on Wednesday, acknowledging that such announcements can be difficult for those still trying to conceive.
"I'm excited to finally share that I'm pregnant," Collinson wrote in a social media post. "I also know that for anyone struggling to have a baby, seeing happy pregnancy announcements on social media can be hard, so I want to be honest."
She detailed the challenges faced with her husband, stating, "Getting to this point has taken my husband and me four long years. During that time, I experienced two miscarriages and we went through two rounds of IVF." Collinson highlighted the isolating nature of fertility problems, emphasizing both the physical and often underestimated psychological toll.
Collinson described the waiting periods for appointments, results, and uncertain outcomes as one of the hardest aspects. "It can at times feel unfair and cruel, like your life is on hold while everyone around you is moving forward without you," she explained. "You then feel so guilty for feeling anything other than happiness when someone else announces their exciting news."

She expressed gratitude for the support received, stating, "I couldn't have got through it without my safe spaces where I could be truly honest, vent, cry and even laugh." Collinson extended her thoughts to others on their fertility journeys, hoping her experience might offer a sense of solidarity.
"My thoughts are with anyone currently navigating their own fertility journey. I know sharing my experience won't make things easier, but I hope it might help you feel a little less alone or a little more understood. Today, I feel incredibly lucky. I don't take that for granted."
Colleagues, including Victoria Derbyshire, offered congratulations. Collinson recently married her long-term partner, Sam Morris, after ten years together.
"After ten years of building a home and a life together, a few weeks ago I married my soulmate and it was the most joyous of days," Collinson shared about her wedding. "Big party for all of our friends and family coming soon."
