BBC Sport presenter Kelly Somers has announced she is pregnant with her second child, a development she described as "beyond my wildest dreams" following a long battle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Somers, 35, revealed her pregnancy via an Instagram post, sharing a series of Polaroid photos and humorously noting, "So, I didn't just overeat in America… Beyond my wildest dreams - soon to be mama of two."

In an interview with The Telegraph, Somers detailed her struggles with PCOS, a hormonal condition that affects fertility and often makes conception difficult. She stated that it took years to receive a diagnosis after experiencing painful, irregular menstrual cycles and a misdiagnosis of endometriosis.

"I had to fight for years to get answers," Somers told The Telegraph. "Constantly being told I was fine while knowing I really wasn't isn't good enough. Women's health needs to be taken seriously."

She was eventually diagnosed with PCOS in her late twenties. After her diagnosis, she did not require fertility treatment and was able to conceive naturally after a series of ovulation scans. Her first child, a daughter, was born in November 2023.

Following her daughter's birth, Somers was diagnosed with adenomyosis, a condition where tissue from the uterine lining grows into the outer wall of the uterus. This new health concern prompted her to consider trying for another child sooner than initially planned.

Somers was pregnant during the coverage of the recent World Cup, admitting she went from a size 8 to a size 12 during the tournament. The World Cup also saw her conduct a viral interview with England captain Harry Kane.

She and her fiancé, Max, who proposed six years ago, are currently facing the challenge of scheduling their wedding amidst their busy careers and new baby on the way. Somers joked they might have to wait until 2040, having previously postponed wedding plans due to their daughter, the World Cup, and a house move.
