BBC Reportedly Eyes Maya Jama for Major New Role

The BBC is reportedly targeting presenter Maya Jama for a significant new role, aiming to secure her services from rival broadcaster ITV. Jama, who recently gained attention for her hosting duties on "Celebrity Traitors," is now a subject of interest for BBC executives who believe her charisma and presenting skills would be a good fit for major shows.

Sources suggest that BBC officials have been impressed by Jama's performance, noting her "intelligence, glamour, confidence and a sense of humour." They are reportedly exploring potential projects that align with her capabilities. However, any such move would likely face competition from ITV, which considers Jama a key part of its talent roster.

Jama began her broadcasting career at the BBC, starting as a radio DJ for BBC Radio 1. She later co-hosted shows such as "Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer" and the competition series "Glow Up" before transitioning to ITV.

She took over as host of "Love Island" in 2023 and has also served as a judge on "The Masked Singer." Her role in "Celebrity Traitors" has further amplified her profile.

Jama was notably absent from a special recording of "Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked" following the show's finale. An organizer stated she was "away filming" and sent apologies. She is understood to be working on series three of Guy Ritchie's drama "The Gentlemen" and may also have been preparing for her annual Halloween party.
