BBC television presenter Gethin Jones has been reminded of the broadcaster's guidelines after repeatedly wearing and showcasing watches from Welsh jewelry company Clogau while hosting "Morning Live." Jones, who is a paid ambassador for Clogau, appeared on the program wearing timepieces from the brand over an eight-month period, according to reports.

The BBC's internal rules state that presenters "must not appear on-air wearing clothing or using products or services which they have been contracted to promote." BBC Studios confirmed that Jones "has been reminded of these" guidelines.

During his appearances on "Morning Live," Jones was seen wearing several Clogau watches, including a £550 model with a stainless-steel case and black bezel, which reportedly appeared on the show more than 30 times. Another watch, priced at £420, features a polished stainless-steel case plated with gold and a black leather strap. A third model observed had a stainless-steel case with a textured black dial.

Jones has been associated with Clogau for a decade, serving as the face of their men's jewelry line and appearing in promotional campaigns, including a Christmas advertisement last year. He also regularly posts sponsored content featuring the brand's jewelry to his 194,000 Instagram followers.

This incident follows other recent instances where BBC personalities have faced scrutiny for perceived breaches of conduct. Monty Don was reportedly cautioned after being seen wearing a Barbour jacket during filming for "Gardeners' World," having previously appeared in an advertisement for the brand. Additionally, "Strictly Come Dancing" head judge Shirley Ballas was reprimanded for recreating show elements on an MSC Cruises voyage, for which she received payment and accommodation. In 2024, the BBC stated that stars were "regularly reminded" of its rules after presenter Gary Lineker wore apparel from his collaboration with Next.

A source suggested that the situation indicated a lack of adequate monitoring, stating that Jones had worn the Clogau pieces for months without producers or line managers intervening. Jones co-hosts "Morning Live" with Helen Skelton.
