A Northern California construction worker has been arrested and accused of a series of residential burglaries in Napa and Pleasant Hill, during which he allegedly stole jewelry and handbags and then sold the items.
David Alejandro Gomez Sanchez, 44, is believed to have gained entry into homes through unlocked doors and windows, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives noticed a pattern in four recent burglaries in the Hagen Road area of Napa where victims reported jewelry missing but found no signs of forced entry.
Gomez, a Napa resident who has worked on multiple homes in the area, was arrested on August 21 after a failed attempt to enter a residence on Hillcrest Drive. Authorities found stolen jewelry inside his truck, and Gomez reportedly admitted to participating in the burglaries.
Law enforcement officials have recovered a collection of earrings, necklaces, watches, designer handbags, and jewelry boxes. The sheriff's office is investigating the possibility that Gomez may have been involved in burglaries dating back as far as 2024 and is asking the public for information regarding additional incidents.
Gomez has pleaded not guilty to 12 felony charges related to the alleged burglaries and remains in custody at the Napa County jail.
