Barry Manilow Cancels Las Vegas Shows Due to Bronchitis
The 83-year-old singer, who is in remission from lung cancer, experienced a setback after a triumphant return to the stage.
Barry Manilow has been forced to cancel performances of his Las Vegas residency due to a bout of bronchitis, representatives for the 83-year-old singer confirmed.
Manilow had to scrap his Friday and Saturday shows after experiencing illness. He had just returned to the stage on Thursday at the Westgate Las Vegas for his residency, "The Hits Come Home!" The Friday performance was cut short, and the Saturday show was canceled entirely.
"After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows," his representatives told the Daily Mail. After ending Friday's show early, Manilow reportedly told the audience, "Talk amongst yourselves."
The previous night, Manilow had celebrated his return to the stage with fans, who threw underwear at him. He joked, "I feel like I'm a teenage idol again," as he caught a pair of pink panties and tucked them into his pocket.
This recent cancellation follows a period of health-related postponements for Manilow. In August, he pulled out of a concert in Lexington, Kentucky, citing "unforeseen circumstances," and canceled two Las Vegas residency dates due to "technical and vocal problems."
Following those August cancellations, Manilow announced he would take a break until October 8, explaining that the exertion of his summer tour, which included 29 shows in 68 days, had been too much. "We just finished a fantastic summer tour. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard," he stated at the time. "Now we all need to sit down and shut up."
Manilow revealed in December 2025 that he had undergone surgery to remove a cancerous spot on one of his lungs. Although his lung cancer is now in remission, the healing process has led to several concerts being scrapped or postponed throughout the year. He had initially discovered the tumor after suffering from extended bouts of bronchitis.
At the time of his diagnosis, doctors believed the cancer had not spread, and Manilow did not require chemotherapy or radiation. However, he did have to postpone his January 2026 tour dates and later delayed shows from February through mid-March, as his body was not yet ready for the demands of a 90-minute performance. Despite these setbacks, by summer 2026, he had completed his UK arena tour and other concerts before the August cancellations.
