Barry Manilow abruptly canceled his concert in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday night, just 45 minutes before he was scheduled to take the stage at Rupp Arena. The show was initially slated for 7 p.m. but was postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances," Manilow announced on X, formerly Twitter.
This marks the second postponement for the Lexington concert this year. The show was originally scheduled for March 9 but was rescheduled as Manilow recovered from surgery for lung cancer. As of Tuesday night, tickets ranging from $39 to $578 were still available, though fan club tickets had previously sold out. Rupp Arena stated that all previously purchased tickets will be honored once a new date is announced.
Manilow, 83, is still scheduled to perform in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Wednesday. This cancellation follows a period where the singer postponed several performances to focus on his health.
In December, Manilow revealed that doctors had discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung. He shared at the time that the cancer had not spread but was undergoing additional tests. The diagnosis led to the postponement of January dates for his "Christmas A Gift of Love" concert series and necessitated surgery.
Manilow later reflected on how the health scare impacted his perspective on life, stating it prompted him to take stock of his accomplishments and relationships.
