Barry Keoghan Undergoes Cosmetic Treatment Amid Speculation Over Appearance

Actor Barry Keoghan, 34, has revealed he underwent a cosmetic procedure known as XERF, a high-tech skin-tightening treatment popular among celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Naomi Watts. The treatment, which aims to lift and firm the face without surgery or injections, comes amid speculation about Keoghan's changing appearance.

The procedure utilizes controlled bursts of radiofrequency energy to heat deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production to tighten loose skin and enhance facial definition. A full-face session with celebrity skin specialist Nilam Holmes, who shared a video of Keoghan undergoing the treatment, costs £2,500, with a course of two treatments priced at £4,500. The clinic suggests results can last between 12 and 18 months.

Keoghan, currently filming a Beatles biopic in which he plays Ringo Starr, stated in the shared video, "I really mean that. Every time I come in, it's very relaxing and therapeutic. Nilam looks after my skin. I feel better about myself. I look better. I think it's important to look after yourself inside and outside."

Speculation about Keoghan's appearance intensified in March at the New York premiere of "Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man," where observers noted fuller cheeks and lips. Cosmetic dermatologists suggested this could be consistent with cheek filler, though Keoghan has not publicly confirmed such treatments. Experts also commented on his fuller pout in earlier photographs.

Kim Kardashian has previously described XERF as her "new fave tightening laser," and Naomi Watts documented her experience with the treatment in May, noting "no pain. No downtime. Snatched."

Keoghan has previously spoken about the impact of criticism regarding his looks. In March, he disclosed that negative online comments had made him reluctant to leave home and question his career. "There's a lot of abuse of how I look," he told SiriusXM. "It's made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside."

He also expressed concern that his son might one day read hurtful remarks made about him. Keoghan has acknowledged past struggles with being perceived as an unconventional leading man before his role in "Saltburn" shifted public perception. "It's nice not just being looked at as the weird-looking guy," he told GQ in 2024, adding that his "prettiness didn't get me this far."
