Barcelona Files UEFA Complaint Over "Chainsaw Massacre" Banner

FC Barcelona has filed a complaint with UEFA against Paris Saint-Germain after PSG ultras displayed a "chainsaw massacre" banner during their Champions League match in Paris.

The banner, which read 'Massacre, Parisien style,' depicted a masked figure in a PSG shirt appearing to cut through a Barcelona crest with a blood-spattered chainsaw. The imagery was described by an ESPN source as "overly aggressive and offensive."

UEFA has been contacted for comment on the matter.

On the field, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory over Barcelona, marking Barcelona's first defeat of the season and ending an 11-game winning streak. PSG's goals came from Desire Doure, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz, extending their lead at the top of their Champions League group.

The match, however, came with a significant cost for PSG. Winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to face a long-term absence after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a challenge in the second half. The club confirmed that Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days.

The 25-year-old Georgian forward joined PSG in January 2025 from Napoli and has become a key player for the French champions.

Additionally, PSG announced that forward Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos will be sidelined for "the coming weeks" due to thigh injuries.

Both clubs have significant league fixtures approaching. PSG will face Lyon in a top-of-the-table Ligue 1 clash, while Barcelona is set to host rivals Real Madrid in El Clásico.
