Barbara Eden, 95, has reassured fans that she is well, clarifying that her abrupt withdrawal from the Cinecon Classic Film Festival was due to side effects from a new medication, not a sudden illness.
In a Sunday Instagram post, the "I Dream of Jeannie" star explained that there had been "a bit of miscommunication" regarding her cancellation. "It's okay everyone! I'm okay!" she stated. "I'm not suffering from an illness; my doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects. Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out."
Eden expressed optimism for a full recovery, calling the situation a "speedbump" and anticipating being "out and about as soon as I'm given the go-ahead."
Festival organizers had initially announced Eden's cancellation on Saturday due to "a sudden illness," which led to fan concern. The festival statement expressed Eden's regret for the last-minute cancellation, noting her eagerness to attend and celebrate with attendees.
Eden was scheduled to receive the Cinemacon Legacy Award at the festival for her extensive career. Her former co-star Pat Boone accepted the award on her behalf.
Fans had responded to the news with well wishes, with some referencing her iconic role as a genie. Eden, known for her ageless appearance, last year shared photos of herself with her husband, Jon Eicholtz, prompting comments on her enduring looks.
