Barbara Eden, 95, Attends Fan Event in Los Angeles
The "I Dream of Jeannie" star maintains an age-defying appearance and active lifestyle.
I Dream of Jeannie star Barbara Eden, 95, recently attended a fan convention in Los Angeles, showcasing an appearance that belies her age. Eden arrived at the event looking youthful, dressed in black trousers, a matching long-sleeved top, and stylish wedges, accessorized with a silver and turquoise necklace and earrings.
Eden was assisted from her car but was able to walk unassisted. She participated in the Hollywood Show fan convention in Burbank on Friday and Saturday, joining other veteran actresses such as Tatum O'Neal, Linda Blair, and Heather Locklear.
In 2024, Eden shared insights into her health and fitness regimen. She explained to Fox News that while she previously engaged in vigorous workouts, including spinning classes and training with weights, she now incorporates a stationary bicycle and uses five-pound weights for bone health. She also favors brisk walking over running for its benefits to her knees and ankles.
Eden attributes her healthy habits partly to her upbringing, noting her parents' emphasis on moderation and well-being. "Moderation of all things" was her mother's mantra, a principle Eden has followed.
Best known for her iconic role as Jeannie in the hit TV series "I Dream of Jeannie," which aired from 1965 to 1970, Eden starred as a genie who falls in love with her master, an astronaut played by Larry Hagman. She is the sole surviving main cast member of the Emmy-nominated sitcom.
Eden began her career in Hollywood in the 1950s, appearing in skits on "The Johnny Carson Show" in 1956. She had smaller roles in "I Love Lucy" and "The Andy Griffith Show" before landing the part that would make her a household name. "I Dream of Jeannie" was developed during the popularity of "Bewitched," which premiered on a rival network in 1964.
Her costume on "I Dream of Jeannie" was considered somewhat daring for its time, with the actress permitted to show her torso but forbidden from revealing her navel. This television standard was eventually lifted in 1983.
Eden has also authored her memoir, "Jeannie Out of the Bottle," published in 2011, and a children's book, "Barbara and the Djinn," released in 2021.
