Barbara Bush Donates to Texas Democratic Senate Candidate's PAC

Barbara Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, has made a campaign donation to a political action committee backing Democratic Texas Senate hopeful James Talarico. The contribution marks a notable, albeit small, boost for Talarico from an unexpected political corner.

FEC filings confirmed that Barbara Bush contributed $2,500 to the Lone Star Rising PAC during the most recent quarter. This PAC accounts for nearly all outside spending supporting Talarico's campaign, according to Houston Public Media. The donation was made public through standard FEC reporting, as opposed to being channeled through a more anonymous 501(c)(4) organization.

While Talarico has publicly criticized big money in politics and the influence of corporations and billionaires in elections, his campaign has stated he will not unilaterally disarm from using PACs while Republican opponents do. Talarico's campaign has previously been critical of incumbent Republican Ken Paxton and Senator John Cornyn.

Barbara Bush, 44, works as the vice president of social impact and inclusion for the National Basketball Association. She also co-founded the Global Health Corps and has co-authored children's books with her twin sister, NBC host Jenna Bush Hager. The George W. Bush Presidential Center did not respond to requests for comment regarding the donation.
