Barbara Bach, Bond Girl and Ringo Starr's Wife, Spotted in Los Angeles
The 80-year-old actress and model, known for her role in 'The Spy Who Loved Me,' made a rare public appearance.
Barbara Bach, the 80-year-old actress and model famous for her role as a Bond girl, was recently seen in Los Angeles. Bach, who married rock icon Ringo Starr in 1981, looked youthful during her outing, dressed in a black linen jacket, a matching T-shirt, and olive cargo pants, accessorized with a black cap and handbag.
Bach gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Anya Amasova in the 1977 James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me." The film is considered one of the most popular entries in the long-running series. Following her Bond role, she starred opposite Harrison Ford in "Force 10 from Navarone" the following year. She also had an extensive modeling career in the 1960s, appearing on the covers of Vogue USA, ELLE France, and Seventeen.
Born Barbara Goldbach in Queens, New York, in 1946, Bach began her acting career in 1968 with a role in an Italian television adaptation of Homer's "Odyssey." Throughout the early 1970s, she primarily worked in Italian productions, including comedies and horror films. She appeared in the Italian horror film "Black Belly of the Tarantula" alongside fellow Bond actresses Claudine Auger and Barbara Bouchet.
Bach has largely retired from acting since the mid-1980s, with a notable uncredited appearance in Paul McCartney's 2007 music video for "Nod Your Head." In 1980, she met Ringo Starr, then the drummer for The Beatles. The couple married in April 1981. In 1988, Bach and Starr entered rehabilitation together to address her years-long struggles with drug and alcohol use, and they have remained sober since. In 1991, Bach co-founded the Self Help Addiction Recovery Program (SHARP) with Pattie Boyd, the ex-wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
