Barbara Bach, 80, Marks Rare Public Appearance in Los Angeles
The former model and actress, known for her role as a Bond girl and her marriage to Ringo Starr, was spotted in a casual ensemble.
Barbara Bach, the 80-year-old actress and model perhaps best known for her role as a Bond girl, was recently seen on a rare public outing in Los Angeles. Bach, who also starred opposite Harrison Ford and is married to Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, appeared youthful in a casual outfit.
Bach wore a black linen jacket, a matching T-shirt, and olive cargo pants, accessorized with a black cap and handbag. Born Barbara Goldbach in Queens, New York, in 1946, she began her career as a model in the 1960s, appearing on the covers of magazines such as Vogue USA, ELLE France, and Seventeen.
She transitioned to acting in 1968 with a role in an Italian television adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. Throughout the early 1970s, Bach primarily worked in Italian films before gaining international recognition. Her most notable role came in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, where she portrayed Anya Amasova. The film was well-received by critics and fans, marking a significant career milestone.
Following her Bond role, Bach starred in Force 10 from Navarone in 1978 alongside Harrison Ford and Robert Shaw. Despite these high-profile roles, she continued to work mainly in European productions into the 1980s and largely retired from acting by the mid-1980s.
Bach met Ringo Starr in 1980, and they married in April 1981. The couple entered a rehabilitation program together in 1988 to address Bach's past struggles with drug and alcohol use, and they have remained sober since. In 1991, Bach co-founded the Self Help Addiction Recovery Program (SHARP) with Pattie Boyd. Her acting appearances since the mid-1980s have been infrequent, including an uncredited role in Paul McCartney's 2007 music video for "Nod Your Head."
