Barack and Michelle Obama marked their 34th wedding anniversary with public displays of affection on social media, showcasing their enduring bond.
Barack Obama shared a photo of the couple embracing on Instagram, captioning it, "Happy anniversary, @MichelleObama! I’m still the luckiest guy in the world to be with you." The image depicted the former president gazing lovingly at his wife.
Michelle Obama, in turn, posted a montage of photos and videos spanning their relationship, from their 1992 wedding to moments during their time in the White House and recent public appearances. She wrote, "Loving you just keeps getting better and better! Happy anniversary, @BarackObama. Here’s to many, many more years of joy, laughter, and memories to come. 💕" The accompanying video was set to Stevie Wonder's song "As."
This celebration follows their 33rd anniversary posts the previous year, where both shared similar sentiments. Barack had written, "The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!" Michelle had echoed his sentiment, stating, "We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years — and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said ‘I do.’ Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you. ❤️"
Earlier, the couple had addressed past divorce rumors. In a July 2025 episode of Michelle's podcast "IMO," with her brother Craig Robinson, they playfully alluded to speculation about their marriage. When Robinson joked about whether they "like each other," Barack quipped, "She took me back! It was touch and go for a while." Michelle clarified that while they experience ups and downs, their connection remains strong, noting that when they are not seen together, people assume they are divorced.
In a more recent interview with People, Michelle Obama elaborated on the longevity of their marriage, attributing its success to mutual support. She described their relationship as one where "he’s got me" and that his encouragement allows her to "try new things" with the confidence that he will be there if she falters.
The Obamas were married on October 3, 1992, and are parents to two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
