Baltimore police are searching for six unidentified suspects in connection with a violent assault on an elderly man outside a 7-Eleven gas station. The incident occurred in the city's Northern District on July 7, shortly before 4 a.m., at a 7-Eleven located on Liberty Heights Avenue.

Surveillance video released by the Baltimore Police Department shows the group of hooded individuals approach the man, knock him to the ground, and attack him while displaying weapons. The footage appears to show at least one suspect wielding what resembles an assault rifle and another with a sword.

The Baltimore Police Department confirmed that the victim sustained minor bruising as a result of the assault. Authorities are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects.

The incident follows an announcement by Baltimore's Democratic Mayor, Brandon M. Scott, regarding a reported decrease in violent crime within the city. According to his office, Baltimore had recorded fewer than 50 homicides by the first six months of the year, representing a 23.1% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, along with a 2.5% reduction in non-fatal shootings.

Police have not confirmed if the suspects are linked to any other criminal activities in the city. The investigation into the 7-Eleven assault is ongoing.
