‘Ballard’ Season 2: Everything We Know About the Prime Video Series’ Return
Maggie Q is set to reprise her role as the titular detective in the upcoming second season, with several new cast members joining the procedural.
The Amazon Prime Video crime procedural “Ballard,” starring Maggie Q, has been renewed for a second season. The premiere date for the upcoming installment has not yet been officially announced, but is anticipated for late 2026 or early 2027.
The first season of “Ballard” concluded in July 2025, ending on a cliffhanger with the protagonist arrested and charged with murder. The series was officially renewed for a second season in October 2025.
Maggie Q will return as LAPD Detective Renée Ballard. She will be joined by Hamish Linklater, who will play Chris Alexander, described as an “ambitious and magnetic figure.” Benjamin Bratt has been cast as a former DEA agent turned Idaho cowboy, and Ever Carradine will portray Lauren Sousa, a mother whose past involvement in a spiritual movement influences her present.
Rosanna Arquette is also set to appear as Ballard’s estranged mother, Jenny Ballard. The series is based on Michael Connelly’s novel series featuring the character Renée Ballard.
