Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe, a couple who found fame on "The Bachelor," have shared that their son Isaiah Hendrix, 8, was recently hospitalized and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Giudici announced the news on Instagram on Tuesday, detailing the past week's challenging events. She stated that their pediatrician noticed concerning symptoms at a routine appointment, prompting a visit to the emergency room.
"Our precious boy Isaiah was admitted to Children’s Hospital and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes," Giudici wrote in her post. She noted that Isaiah had lost 11 pounds and was experiencing increased thirst and urination. The reality star expressed gratitude for the hospital staff who educated them about the condition over four days.
Giudici praised her son's resilience, describing him as a "tough boy" who endured numerous injections and a significant change in routine without losing his "playful spirit." She called Isaiah her "hero" and asked for prayers for her son, his siblings, and parents as they adjust to this "new normal."
The couple, who met on season 17 of "The Bachelor" in 2013 and married in 2014, also have two other children: Samuel, 10, and Mia, 6. Isaiah is their middle child.
This is not the first significant health-related event the Lowe family has faced. In December, Sean Lowe spoke about experiencing PTSD after being attacked twice by their family dog, a Boxer named Moose, within a 12-hour period. The dog's attacks resulted in Lowe requiring a hospital visit. The family eventually rehomed Moose.
Prior to that, in April 2023, their Bullmastiff, Gus, attacked both Mia, then 3, and Samuel, then 6. Samuel sustained an injury requiring a hospital visit and stitches. The family also rehomed Gus following that incident, prioritizing their children's safety.
