Baby Reindeer Star Richard Gadd Called Police After Hearing Woman's 'Kill Me' Scream

Actor Richard Gadd, known for the acclaimed series "Baby Reindeer," contacted emergency services after hearing a woman scream that she was going to be killed from the flat above his residence. Gadd, a Golden Globe and Emmy winner, told Glasgow Sheriff Court that he witnessed a "flurry of arms" during the alleged assault.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 1 of last year, and the accused, 22-year-old Lucas Bains, is currently on trial for aggravated assault. Gadd, who was off from filming and in his Finnieston, Glasgow apartment, heard noise from above around 10 p.m. Initially mistaking it for a gathering, the sounds escalated into arguing and shouting.

'It stopped feeling like a party,' Gadd testified. He went to his balcony and, after a period of quiet followed by renewed noise, saw a "flurry of arms" and heard the woman cry out, 'Help me, help me - he is going to kill me.'

According to Gadd's testimony, the woman was eventually on her balcony, and he provided her with a dressing gown. She remained there for approximately 20 to 30 minutes until police arrived. Meanwhile, Bains was observed by another witness, Thomas Russell, leaving the scene appearing agitated and shouting at the building. Russell, a financial crime analyst, also described Bains as carrying a bag from which liquid was dripping.

Russell reported hearing Bains say, 'Fing b*' before driving away, running over flowerbeds in the process. He also saw the woman on the balcony appearing distressed and crying, stating she was 'stuck.'

Court documents allege that Bains repeatedly pushed Ms. Zhang and then seized her by the shoulders, shoving her onto a balcony and trapping her leg in a door frame, causing injury. Bains denies the aggravated assault charge. He has, however, pleaded guilty to failing to provide his identity to police following an incident and to failing to provide specimens of breath for testing. The summary trial is ongoing.
