Scots embraced full glamour for Ayr Ladies Day on Friday, despite contending with challenging weather conditions. Hundreds gathered at Ayr racecourse for the festivities, facing persistent showers and mild temperatures.
Revellers held onto fascinators and sought shelter under umbrellas as winds reached speeds of up to 37 mph. Despite the weather, the event proceeded with its traditional style awards, recognizing the most fashionable hat, lady, gent, and couple.
The Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Festival, now in its second day, saw notable race wins. Eye of Dubai secured the Ladbrokes Ayr Bronze Cup at 15/2 odds. Fluorescence triumphed in the Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies’ Stake race as a 7/2 shot, and Mussab won the British EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes with 9/2 stakes.
The festival's final day is scheduled for Sunday, featuring competitions for the Ladbrokes Silver and Gold Cups. The Ladbrokes Gold Cup race attracted a significant number of entries, with 263 horses entered, exceeding the maximum field size of 25.
