A 7-year-old nonverbal autistic boy has been found deceased in a swimming pool in Menands, New York, after disappearing from a family party on Sunday. Authorities discovered the body of Harbe Nagi in a neighbor's pool on Tuesday morning around 8 a.m., according to NEWS10.
Harbe Nagi, whose uncle is Hamtramck, Michigan, Mayor Adam Alharbi, was last seen during a gathering at a nearby residence on Sunday afternoon. Police were alerted to his disappearance around 4:23 p.m. that same day, approximately ten minutes after he was last seen.
"We want to express our condolences and appreciation for everybody that came out and helped in the search efforts. Obviously, we are extremely saddened by the results," Menands Police Lieutenant Kevin Schwebke stated to reporters on Tuesday.
Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of death. Menands Mayor Brian Marsh urged the public against speculation. "We are going to continue to pursue the details of the case. Please, if people can refrain from speculation on social media — as I said [Monday], it’s not helpful to speculate. Let this case be pursued by the experts," Marsh said.
