Authorities Investigate New Possible Ransom Note in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

Authorities are investigating the possibility of a new ransom note in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, nearly eight months after she went missing from her home outside Tucson, Arizona. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI Guthrie Task Force were recently made aware of the potential note and related social media comments, according to a statement from the sheriff's department. Investigators are currently working to determine the credibility of this new information.

Officials have not released specific details regarding how the note was discovered or its contents. This development comes after two ransom notes were initially sent to a Tucson television station days after Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared on February 1.

The first note, dated February 2, stated that Nancy Guthrie was safe but fearful, and would be released unharmed upon receipt of $4 million in cryptocurrency. A second note, received on February 6, claimed that Guthrie had died shortly after her kidnapping. Authorities have not confirmed whether Guthrie is still alive.

No suspects have been apprehended in connection with her disappearance. The investigation continues to face unresolved questions, including the number of individuals believed to be involved in her abduction and whether she was taken by someone known to her. The FBI previously released surveillance footage showing a masked individual appearing to tamper with and obstruct a camera on Nancy Guthrie's front porch with a plant.
