Australian rock legend Angry Anderson has been hospitalized after suffering a cardiac arrest, his family announced on social media Monday. The 79-year-old performer is currently receiving treatment and care.
"On behalf of Angry and his family, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming messages of support, love, and kind words," the family stated in a social media post. "Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes mean more to Angry and his family than we can express."
The family requested privacy for Anderson as he focuses on his recovery. "At this time, we kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family as they focus on Angry, his treatment, and his recovery," they wrote. "We appreciate everyone's understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead."
Anderson, frontman for the band Rose Tattoo, is known for his song "Suddenly," which featured in the 1985 wedding scene of characters in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. His family expressed gratitude for the public's support, noting, "We are incredibly grateful for the love and support that has already been shown. It is comforting to know just how many people are thinking of Angry and wishing him strength in his recovery."
This health incident follows a period of grief for Anderson. In 2018, his youngest son, Liam, was murdered. The following year, Anderson shared his emotions in his first television interview since his son's death, discussing grief and loss.
