Glenn A. Baker, a well-known figure in Australian rock music journalism and broadcasting, has died at the age of 74. His passing was confirmed on Friday morning by musician Stuart Coupe, a friend of Baker.
"This is a post that I was hoping I wouldn’t be making for a considerable period of time," Coupe wrote on social media. "But after an illness Glenn A Baker passed away earlier this morning. I'm beyond sad."
Fellow music journalist Paul Cashmere also shared his condolences, stating, "A sad start to the day as, confirmed by Stuart Coupe, Australian music has lost one of its greatest historians."
Baker was instrumental in the 1970s research project that led to the formation of 2JJ, a radio station that later became known as triple j. He also hosted a trivia program on the station before moving to Triple M.
