A 29-year-old woman, identified as Evette Wallington, died following a workplace incident at a towing yard in Osborne Park, northern Perth. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday but were unable to save her life due to the severity of her injuries.
Colleagues at the scene expressed distress following the incident. Former colleague Gregory Dixon described Wallington as a "funny and caring" individual. "Every interaction I had with her was positive, and she was someone I genuinely enjoyed talking to and working with," Dixon said, adding that she was "always willing to have a laugh." He further stated, "The towing community has lost one of its own, and she'll be deeply missed."
A GoFundMe page was established on Wednesday by a friend to raise funds for Wallington's family. The page described her as an "amazing woman" and a "hard working, amazing mother to her 3 beautiful daughters" who was lost in a "freak accident." The friend noted that "words can not describe the pain and hurt we all are feeling at this time" and that she "will forever be missed and loved by many."
WorkSafe has launched an investigation into the incident. The exact circumstances of the workplace accident remain under investigation.
