Australian Airports Grapple with Major System Outage
Technical issues at e-gates caused significant queues and delays at Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne international terminals.

Passengers at Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne airports experienced significant disruptions on Friday morning due to a technical outage affecting the Australian Border Force's e-gate system. The system failure led to extensive queues and lengthy delays in the international terminals.
An Australian Border Force spokesperson confirmed the technical outage impacted e-gates for both outbound and some inbound passengers. In response to the disruption, additional Border Force officers were deployed to manually process travelers and minimize the impact.
The issue is understood to have been resolved late Friday morning, with systems returning to normal and queues beginning to dissipate. The Border Force expressed appreciation for travelers' patience during the incident.
