Austin Reaves Returns for Lakers in Preseason Debut Against Kings
Guard Austin Reaves played in his first preseason game Thursday night after missing two games due to an ankle injury.
Austin Reaves made his preseason debut for the Los Angeles Lakers in their matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at Crypto.com Arena.
Reaves had been sidelined for the Lakers' first two preseason contests after sustaining an ankle injury during practice. The star guard, who recently signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Lakers, was in the starting lineup for the game.
Several other players were unavailable for the Lakers against the Kings. Walker Kessler, Ziaire Williams, Collin Sexton, Dalton Knecht, Cameron Carr, and Arthur Kaluma did not play. Lakers coach JJ Redick stated that Williams experienced soreness but indicated it was not a cause for concern.
Kessler, acquired by the Lakers as part of a four-year, $130 million sign-and-trade, had not yet played in the preseason due to a jammed finger sustained in practice. Redick mentioned that Kessler's finger would be examined on Friday, but that the injury was not concerning and Kessler was expected to play later in the preseason.
The Lakers have two more preseason games scheduled: on Tuesday against the Warriors in Las Vegas, and on October 16 against the Nuggets in Los Angeles.
