The Austin FC Academy is under investigation by the Austin Police Department and the FBI following allegations of sexual abuse occurring among its youth players. The club first learned of the misconduct allegations in December 2025, according to a statement released by Austin FC Academy.

Austin FC Academy stated that upon learning of the issues from player families, they took immediate action. This included suspending and expelling players, in coordination with Major League Soccer (MLS) and law enforcement. The club also reported the allegations to local authorities, notified the U.S. Center for SafeSport and MLS, provided resources to affected parents and families, and initiated an internal investigation with MLS.

All activities for the affected age group were suspended while the investigation began. "Austin FC Academy prioritizes the health and safety of our youth players above everything else," the academy said in its statement. "We continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement throughout its ongoing investigation."

The Austin Police Department confirmed to The Guardian and other news outlets that an active investigation is underway. "However, the investigation involves juveniles and remains ongoing, so at this time, we are not sharing further information," police stated.

The Austin FC Academy comprises five teams, ranging from U-13 to U-18, participating in the MLS Next league. The program involves at least 100 players and operates with a separate coaching staff and leadership structure from the senior team. Alex Pozo is listed as the U-16 head coach for the academy.
