A house fire in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough, England, resulted in the deaths of Natalie McDonald, 34, and her seven-year-old niece, Valentina Foster. Authorities have arrested two men, aged 23 and 31, on suspicion of murder.
Cleveland Police reported that the fire, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, also left a 48-year-old woman in critical condition. Three other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are receiving medical attention.
McDonald was remembered by her mother, Lisa Kirton, as "a beautiful soul, who would have done anything for anybody." Kirton described her daughter as "lovely, bright and bubbly" and stated that "everybody loved her." Valentina, also known as Tina, was reportedly spending the summer holidays with the family. "She was a cute little kid," Kirton said. "I can't believe it, seven years old - it's just a disgrace."
The arrested men remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
