During the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, an attendee yelled "He should be shot" as Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, spoke about Democratic opponents. The cry was heard as Cruz mentioned New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, and Texas Senate nominee James Talarico.

Cruz stated that Mamdani "means it" when he talks about seizing the means of production. He also asserted that El-Sayed "means it" when he speaks of an obligation to Sharia Law, and Talarico "means it" when he advocates for dismantling capitalism. The attendee shouted the "should be shot" remark during each of these points.

The incident occurred on the same day the convention held a tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated a year prior while speaking at Utah Valley University. Former President Donald Trump remembered Kirk and his wife Erika, describing his murder as a "shock" and criticizing those who "made an excuse for it or cheered for it."

Lucas Miles, Faith Vice President for Turning Point USA, also spoke about Kirk's legacy, emphasizing his vision and ability to unite people.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance were scheduled to speak at the convention on Thursday, the second day of the event. Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was also on the agenda.

Several Republican Senate nominees, including Ken Paxton of Texas, Michael Whatley of North Carolina, and Mike Collins of Georgia, addressed the convention attendees. Incumbent Ohio Senator Jon Husted was also among the speakers.

Political analysts predict that Democrats are likely to regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives, but the Senate remains a more competitive contest. Key races in Maine, Ohio, Michigan, and Alaska are expected to determine which party controls the Senate.

Former Trump administration cabinet members, including Brooke Rollins and Scott Bessent, along with Dr. Mehmet Oz and Attorney General Todd Blanche, were also listed on the convention's schedule.

The convention program also included a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11th.
