Actress Aubrey Plaza was recently photographed in New York City cradling her newborn, marking her first public appearance since welcoming her first child with boyfriend Christopher Abbott. Plaza, 42, was seen on Sunday with her family in Manhattan.
During the outing, Plaza wore a black tank top and sunglasses. She was also spotted arriving at the Winter Garden Theatre to support Abbott, 40, at his final performance of the Broadway revival, "Death of a Salesman."
Plaza confirmed her pregnancy in April, and sources told People magazine at the time that she was due to give birth in the fall. The actress expressed her excitement about motherhood on "The View," stating, "I am. Yeah, I've always wanted to see what that's all about, you know?"
Plaza and Abbott, who have collaborated on screen and stage, first met in 2019 while working on the film "Black Bear." They later reunited for an Off-Broadway revival of the play "Danny And The Deep Blue Sea" in 2023, which concluded in January 2024. Their relationship reportedly turned romantic in 2025, and the couple announced their pregnancy news in April of that year.
Plaza was last seen with her baby bump two weeks prior to this public appearance, on Sunday, July 26, enjoying a walk in New York City. She has been photographed wearing comfortable clothing, including baggy jeans and slip-on sneakers, since welcoming her baby. She was also seen without makeup, with her hair pulled back in a ponytail, and appeared to be a doting mother, with family members also holding the baby.
This is the first child for both Plaza and Abbott. Plaza's baby news comes nearly two years after she became estranged from her late husband, screenwriter Jeff Baena, who died by suicide in January 2025. Court documents revealed that Plaza and Baena had been separated since September 2024.
