ATM Thief Throws Thousands of Dollars from SUV During Texas Police Chase
Video captures suspect tossing cash from vehicle during pursuit in Pearland.
Newly released police footage shows a suspect accused of ATM theft throwing thousands of dollars out of an SUV window during a police chase in Pearland, Texas. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on September 16.
Officers with the Pearland Police Department responded to a bank after receiving reports of a masked man making multiple transactions with different cards and withdrawing large sums of cash. Two individuals then left the bank and entered another vehicle. When officers located the vehicle, one individual exited while the driver sped away, initiating a pursuit.
During the chase, footage from a police dashcam captured the driver tossing handfuls of cash out of the moving SUV's window. Authorities later recovered more than $6,000.
Officers eventually apprehended the vehicle and arrested the driver, identified as Levon Steven Jr. of Florida. He faces charges of evading arrest and tampering with evidence. The passenger, Tarvares Givens, also from Florida, was charged with failure to identify.
The investigation is ongoing, and police indicated that additional fraud-related charges may be filed. Both men are currently in custody at the Brazoria County Jail.
