Athlete Testifies 'Frozen' by Alleged Kiss from Alan Jones

A prominent athlete testified in a Sydney courtroom that he was kissed without his consent by Alan Jones and that the memory remains vivid.

Appearing for the third day of the trial, the sportsman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told the court he was kissed on the side of the lips at a crowded sporting event. Under cross-examination, he acknowledged discrepancies between his statements to police and his court testimony. He stated he had previously testified he "froze" when the alleged kiss occurred, but this detail was not included in his initial police statements. The athlete asserted that while he may not recall precise details of positioning or seating arrangements, he is certain the kiss happened because, as he told the court, "I can't get it out of my memory."

He also recounted receiving a message from Jones after the event, which he described as glowing and asking to meet. The athlete responded twice, saying, "Let me know when we can catch up. Lots of love." He stated he felt apprehensive and "wanted the kiss that happened to have never happened," wishing for things to return to normal.

The sportsman further alleged a second incident years later at Jones's Circular Quay apartment, where he claims Jones pressed his genitals against him. The athlete told the court he pushed Jones away and responded, "OK mate."

Alan Jones has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges, including indecent assault and sexual touching without consent, involving six complainants between 2003 and the end of his 35-year broadcasting career. Jones's career included extensive radio work, national commentary on television, and a previous coaching role with the Wallabies and Balmain Tigers.
