A prominent athlete testifying in court stated he was worried about offending Alan Jones because the talkback titan "could destroy people." The athlete recounted an alleged incident where Jones kissed him without consent and pressed his genitals against him at his Circular Quay apartment.

During court proceedings, texts allegedly sent by Jones to the athlete were presented. In one message, Jones wrote, "You looked great. I love you. I hope you can feel my kisses, darling." In another, after receiving a photo from the athlete, Jones reportedly said, "I love this photo. I love you. I want to kiss you for hours." The athlete responded to these messages by using the term "mate" to create distance and reinforce a platonic relationship.

The athlete explained his apprehension stemmed from Jones's influence and reputation for harming individuals and brands. "I was always concerned about the reputation he had and how he could destroy people," the athlete told the court, adding that Jones "hurt brands, he hurt politicians."

Jones, 85, has been charged with one count each of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which encompass 22 counts related to six complainants between 2003 and the end of his radio career. Jones's barrister asserted in her opening statement that the case against her client was driven by rivalry, treachery, money, double-dealing, and opportunism. The athlete is scheduled to continue his testimony in Sydney Local Court.
