Asylum Seeker Praising Hamas, Who Called for Killing Jews, Wants to Stay in UK

A Palestinian migrant who arrived in the UK via a small boat in March 2025, and previously posted a video calling for the death of Jews, is reportedly seeking to remain in the country and is housed in taxpayer-funded accommodation.

Abu Wadee, 34, also known as Mosab Abdulkarim Al-Gassas, was previously identified as a former member of a Hamas-affiliated group. He served nine months in prison after his illegal entry was exposed. Following his release in December, he was placed in a shared house in Corby, Northamptonshire, managed by Serco.

In a video reviewed by the Daily Mail, Wadee expressed affection for his new surroundings, stating, "I love England, I love Corby." He claimed that his past support for Hamas was under duress and occurred eight years prior. He also stated that he no longer supports the group, asserting, "Everyone knows that Hamas is a terrorist organisation that would kill us if we didn't speak against the Jews while living there."

However, Wadee has also shared videos on social media, including TikTok, in which he displays an ankle tag and claims his human rights are being infringed. He stated, "I have not committed any crime or done anything wrong in Britain. They are punishing me." Wadee added that he has been unable to find legal representation or assistance from Palestinian or Arab embassies.

He admitted to being pictured with Kalashnikov assault rifles in Gaza and was part of what he called the "tyre-burning unit," a group that reportedly threw fire bombs and rocks at Israeli border forces. Wadee also posted videos encouraging locals to chant "Free Palestine" in Corby town centre. His TikTok account, which had approximately 20,000 followers, was deleted.

Calls for Wadee's deportation have been made by political figures. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp described his situation as a "joke" and called for him to be returned to Hamas-controlled territory. Lee Barron, Labour MP for Corby, is reportedly contacting the Home Secretary to seek Wadee's "immediate deportation."

A spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism noted that the situation highlights issues with the UK's laws, stating, "Our laws have become a laughing stock." This comes amid recent announcements about making it easier for Gazans to settle in the UK, with concerns raised about assurances regarding antisemitic views or a history of terrorism.

A government spokeswoman told the Mail that "Any foreign national who receives a prison sentence in the UK is referred for deportation at the earliest opportunity and will be barred from ever returning." The statement also noted that over 11,000 foreign criminals have been deported in the two years since the last election, a 41% increase from the prior two-year period.
