Asylum Seeker Accused of Anti-Semitic Remarks Leaves UK Housing

Abu Wadee, a 34-year-old asylum seeker previously accused of making anti-Semitic remarks, has departed from a taxpayer-funded house in Corby, Nottinghamshire. His relocation comes after public outcry regarding his presence in the United Kingdom.

Wadee was reportedly driven away from the property in a taxi on Wednesday, observed by police officers and a housing official. The departure followed revelations that Wadee, who arrived in the UK in March 2025 via a small boat, had previously posted a video calling for the death of Jews and had been a member of a Hamas-affiliated group known as the 'tyre-burning unit' in Gaza. This unit reportedly engaged in activities such as throwing fire bombs and rocks at Israeli border forces.

Following his release from prison in December, Wadee had been housed at the property under the Home Office's asylum dispersal scheme. He was located at the residence earlier this week, asserting at the time that he no longer supported Hamas, had Jewish friends, and wished to remain in the UK. Wadee claimed his past support for Hamas was under duress and occurred eight years prior, stating in an interview that he now loves England and Corby. He also asserted that he had not committed any crimes in Britain and that his human rights were being infringed by authorities. Videos posted online showed him with an ankle tag, claiming he could not find legal representation.

During his time in Corby, Wadee was filmed posing with a bicycle and was observed using a selfie-stick to film TikTok videos in local shopping centers. One video showed children chanting 'Free Palestine!' for his feed. His TikTok account, which had approximately 20,000 followers, has since been deleted. Wadee also admitted to being pictured with Kalashnikov assault rifles in Gaza.

The situation has prompted calls for Wadee's deportation. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp called it a "joke" that Wadee was still housed at taxpayer expense and urged for his removal. Lee Barron, the Labour MP for Corby, stated he was contacting the Home Secretary to seek Wadee's immediate deportation.

A government spokeswoman indicated that foreign nationals receiving prison sentences in the UK are referred for deportation and barred from returning. She noted that over 11,000 foreign criminals had been deported in the two years prior to the statement, a 41% increase from the preceding two-year period.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed officers attended the address in Corby to support partner agencies. The Home Office has not yet commented further.
