Brock Morgan has landed his first on-air role as an anchor and reporter at FOX54 in Huntsville, Alabama, after submitting 223 job applications. The newly hired journalist will cover both sports and news for the Tegna-owned station.
Morgan, a graduate of Howard University and Northwestern University, announced the career milestone on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude for the opportunity. His background includes playing Division I football as a linebacker for Howard University's MEAC championship teams, where he also earned academic recognition. He graduated from Howard magna cum laude.
During his time at Howard, Morgan also gained experience in the business of sports, establishing several name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals by proactively approaching businesses with proposals. This initiative earned him the National Association of Black Journalists’ Dr. Sheila Brooks Entrepreneur Scholarship.
Parallel to his athletic pursuits, Morgan developed his journalism career. He wrote for The Hilltop, Howard's student newspaper, before pursuing a master's degree in journalism with a concentration in sports media at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. His reporting at Medill covered events such as Super Bowl LX, the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, a new entrance to Wrigley Field, and WNBA All-Star Weekend, building a diverse portfolio across sports and general news.
FOX54 has hired Morgan to utilize both halves of his experience, reporting on sports and general news in the Huntsville area. He expressed his enthusiasm for joining the "Rocket City."
