Ashley Tisdale's Husband Supports Her Amid 'Toxic Mom Group' Fallout

Ashley Tisdale's husband, Christopher French, has publicly stated his full support for his wife following the widely discussed fallout from her viral essay about her former "toxic" mom friends. French, who co-hosts the "Recovering" podcast, told Page Six that he and Tisdale are "doing fine" and that he admires her strength.

"She's a super smart, capable person, and she knows what she's doing and that's part of what I love about her," French said.

In January, Tisdale published an essay for "The Cut" detailing her decision to end friendships with a group of mothers she had grown close to after her eldest daughter was born in 2021. She described experiencing "mean girl behavior," being excluded from plans, and feeling betrayed, ultimately choosing to sever ties via a group text message.

French expressed his admiration for Tisdale's handling of the situation, stating, "I will say, I have no problem supporting my wife completely in her ability to deal with her own interpersonal relationships in whatever way feels is right for her, without getting involved or feeling like I have to speak for her."

While Tisdale did not name the individuals involved, speculation arose that celebrities such as Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor were part of the group. Duff, in a February appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, addressed Tisdale's essay, stating, "It sucks to read something that’s, like, not true... And it sucks on behalf of six women in all of their lives."

Tisdale recently appeared on her husband's podcast, where she discussed her experiences with postpartum depression. French, who has been open about his nearly two decades of sobriety, commented on his wife's resilience.

"In the case of postpartum depression, she's trying to use these tools that she had built over time to deal with all of these other issues, any other issues that she has in her life — anxiety, depression, stuff like that. But the tools just aren't working, you know? It's just not logical, and so it can make it really hard, but she isn't."

Tisdale and French married in 2014 and are parents to two daughters, Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 2.
