Ashley St. Clair, a former associate of Elon Musk, has claimed the billionaire communicated a desire to have a "legion of children before the civil war." St. Clair made this allegation in a forthcoming documentary titled "Musk," as reported by The Guardian.
St. Clair stated that Musk, who has 14 children, conveyed this sentiment in a text message prior to the 2024 birth of their son, Romulus. When questioned about whether Musk feared a civil war or sought to promote such an idea, St. Clair suggested that Musk's actions on his platform X, formerly Twitter, "cannot be ignored." She asserted that Musk "is stoking flames that don’t exist in the real world" and is "causing deliberate division that may be catastrophic if it’s not regulated or tamed."
Musk acquired X in 2022 and has since used the platform to express his political views. St. Clair, aged 28, also told reporters that she was offered $40 million on behalf of Musk to remain silent for the documentary.
She recounted in a June interview on the "Don Lemon Show" podcast that she was presented with a non-disclosure agreement by Musk's wealth manager, Jared Birchall. According to St. Clair, Musk initially sent a message instructing Birchall to "Wire Ashley $15 million for a home and reserve capital." Birchall then reportedly engaged in a two-hour phone call with St. Clair, indicating the necessity of an NDA. St. Clair ultimately declined the alleged NDA and a further offer of "$15 million and $100,000 per month for 20 years" in exchange for her silence.
St. Clair described her decision as a "moral decision," stating she told Musk, "I would rather go to a studio apartment with both of my children than sign this."
The documentary, directed by Alex Gibney, premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is scheduled for theatrical release on October 16. The four-hour production reportedly explores Musk's personal life, including his children with various partners, and his business ventures such as Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink, as well as his past association with President Trump.
It is anticipated that St. Clair will discuss her co-parenting relationship with Musk and their ongoing custody dispute. St. Clair filed a lawsuit seeking sole custody of Romulus in February 2025. Musk, in January, tweeted that he was seeking full custody of Romulus after St. Clair allegedly expressed support for the transgender community. In addition to Romulus, Musk has 13 other children with three other partners.
