Ashley Moody won Florida's Republican Senate primary on Tuesday, overcoming three challengers to secure the GOP nomination in the special election. Moody, appointed to the Senate in January 2025, is seeking to finish the remaining two years of Marco Rubio's six-year term.
She entered the primary as the favorite and received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Moody previously served as Florida's Attorney General for six years. Her campaign has emphasized economic growth, tax reduction, energy independence, border security, and Second Amendment rights.
Moody faced competition from Republican candidates Chris Gleason, Neelam Taneja Perry, and Ernest "Ernie" Rivera. She had a significant financial advantage, reporting over $10.8 million in receipts and approximately $8.4 million in cash on hand as of June 30, according to FEC records.
Moody will now face Democratic nominee Angie Nixon in the general election. Democrats have not won a U.S. Senate race in Florida since 2012. The special election will determine who serves in the Senate through January 2029.
