Ashley James Shares Her Experience With Postpartum Pelvic Organ Prolapse
TV personality Ashley James discusses the realities of living with pelvic organ prolapse following childbirth and the importance of open conversation.
Broadcaster and TV personality Ashley James has spoken out about her experience with pelvic organ prolapse, a condition that affects many women after childbirth but is rarely discussed openly. James detailed her journey following the birth of her second child, a son who weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces, describing how she required an incontinence product after doctors were unable to fully repair her during childbirth.
In an interview, James recounted a moment where she had to ask her partner, Tommy, to purchase Tena pads for her, highlighting the personal impact of the condition. "I told Tommy: 'I can't go to Celine without my Tena pads. Can you go to a pharmacy for me?'" she shared, illustrating the unexpected challenges that can arise in daily life.
James expressed her desire to normalize conversations around postpartum recovery and physical changes. She stated, "Hey, I might be dressed up to the nines, hosting a premiere, on This Morning, doing all these great things – but I still wear Tena pads because I sustained a birth injury." Her candidness aims to encourage other women to seek support and understand they are not alone.
James also shared that her partner, Tommy, has been supportive throughout her experience. "Tommy has great values and has always been very supportive. He’s aware it’s my body that made this sacrifice to give us our son and daughter," she said.
By sharing her story, James hopes to break the silence surrounding pelvic organ prolapse and similar postpartum issues, offering a message of hope and encouragement to others facing similar challenges.
