Ashley Cain, known for his appearances on "Ex On The Beach," announced on Wednesday that his grandmother has passed away. He shared the news through an emotional Instagram post, expressing his gratitude for her influence on his life.

"Yesterday, we said goodbye to my grandma," Cain wrote in his post. "She wasn’t just my grandma. She was my carer, my protector, my confidant and, in so many ways, my second mum. She helped raise me, shaped me and loved me through every chapter of my life."

He described her as having the "kindest heart" and noted her selflessness and quiet strength in raising their family. Cain recalled childhood memories, including dinners after school and playing football, which he credited as foundational moments in his life.

Cain concluded his tribute by asking his grandmother to convey a message to his late daughter, Azaylia, who died of leukemia in April 2021 at eight months old. "Please give Azaylia the biggest kiss and cuddle, and keep looking after her for me in the heavens above. Rest in eternal paradise, Grandma. Until we meet again."

The news follows a period where Cain addressed past misogynistic tweets that resurfaced. He issued a statement apologizing for the language used more than a decade ago, stating he does not condone it and acknowledging he had "a lot of growing up to do." He explained that his behavior at the time was influenced by the end of his football career and his entry into reality television, a world that he felt rewarded a provocative personality.

Cain's daughter Azaylia was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. After undergoing treatment, she passed away on April 24, 2021. Since her death, Cain has focused on ultra-endurance challenges to fundraise for childhood cancer research and co-founded the Azaylia Foundation with Azaylia's mother, Safiyya Vorajee, to raise awareness and support for children battling cancer.

Following the resurfacing of his old tweets, Cain was dropped by the BBC and his management company. The BBC stated that their vetting process had failed and they would not pursue future projects with him. The Daily Mail reported that his management company, Off Limits Group, also ceased representing him due to the offensive nature of his past social media posts.
