Asda Cashier Fired After Racist Outburst Caught on Video
A 21-year-old employee of the UK supermarket chain Asda has been fired and is under police investigation after a video surfaced showing her hurling racist abuse and making monkey gestures at a nightclub bouncer.
A 21-year-old Asda employee has been fired and is under investigation by Greater Manchester Police following an incident outside a nightclub where she was captured on video engaging in racist behavior. The incident occurred last Saturday night outside Ko Ko Lounge in Rochdale.
The video, shared by Platinum Security Events, shows Daisy Johnson directing racial slurs and gestures, including the N-word, at a Black nightclub bouncer. Johnson also appeared to imitate a monkey during the tirade. When she realized her actions were being filmed, she attempted to grab the bouncer's phone and also directed abuse at another security guard and a club patron.
An eyewitness described the scene, stating, "She was imitating a monkey, dancing like a gorilla, while calling the bouncer the N-word multiple times, calling him 'sewer trash'." The witness intervened and also became a target of Johnson's abuse.
Platinum Security Events released the footage to highlight the abuse faced by door supervisors. "Why should anyone have to go to work and be subjected to this level of abuse from a member of the public?" the firm questioned in a statement. "Door supervisors are there to keep customers, staff and venues safe. They deserve the same dignity and respect as anyone else in their workplace."
Asda confirmed Johnson's dismissal, stating, "We do not tolerate any form of abusive behaviour from our colleagues. Having reviewed the available evidence, it's clear that the colleague's conduct fell significantly short of the standards we expect and they have been dismissed with immediate effect."
Johnson has reportedly deleted her social media profiles and has left her hometown to stay with friends in another city. Her mother, Cheryl King, stated that Johnson is "mortified" and has been receiving abuse and death threats. She added that her daughter is a "good girl, a good hard working girl" but that the "whole video has not been put out there."
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they are investigating the reports of racial abuse. "A report has been made to GMP and enquiries are ongoing. We are reviewing available evidence and speaking to those involved," a police spokesperson said. They have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, quoting log 662 of 20/10/2026.
