Artist Cited for Trespassing After Mummifying Man at Hollywood Sign
Performance artist Sabine Tautou was detained and cited for trespassing after attaching a man, wrapped in green material and plastic wrap, to the iconic Hollywood sign.
Los Angeles police cited performance artist Sabine Tautou for trespassing after she attached a mummified man to the Hollywood sign on Friday morning. The art installation, titled "Public Figure, 2026," lasted approximately 25 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m.
Tautou's performance involved mummifying a man and restraining him against the landmark. According to a news release about the event, the artist intended to create a "compelling physical and ideological juxtaposition." The Hollywood Sign, a symbol of aspiration and fame, was contrasted with the mummified man, whose bound state and obscured face were meant to signify restricted movement and erased identity.
Tautou describes herself on her website as a "fetish professional and fantasy curator" with a focus on "psychosexual pervert with an obsessive fascination for power change, psychological kink, ritual, control, vulnerability, and beautifully deviant intimacy." Her artistic themes include humiliation, objectification, and feminization.
